Ferro-vanadium prices rose in Europe on Wednesday January 8, as suppliers receiving fresh consumer demand reported being well-sold or sold out.

Ferro-vanadium traded at $25.50-25.90 per kg, compared with $25.20-25.85 per kg, where prices had held since December 20, 2013.

Producers are well-sold and some are sold out, market sources said.

“Most producers are fully booked; it’s tight. The market is active, consumption is very good and people had no stock at the end of the year,” one producer source told Metal Bulletin.

A large Asian supplier is reported to have cut ferro-vanadium and vanadium pentoxide volumes outside Asia, due to comparatively unfavourable Western prices.
